The Rota Saga

Change jobs on Wednesday, still no rota so I've no idea what I'm doing for the next 4 months. Which weekends am I working? When can I take annual leave or is it allocated? Am I unreasonable in thinking we should have had this rota weeks ago? Not impressed.

Will really miss A+E, not looking forward to orthopaedics despite always having considered it as a career. Being the 'orthopaedic opinion' should be interesting, even more so on nights when I'm responsible for all surgical admissions too!

So you're now the caveman doctor. At least that's how the specialities I've been in as a medical student think of orthopods at least. When I was on my orthopaedics and rheumatology placement for 3 weeks 2 months ago I enjoyed it. The clinics were good and the surgery was violent. Have a good 4 months.

Dear Little Medic,
I just discovered your blog, since the idea of starting my own Med Student bloggy while suffering through 6th yr med suddenly occured to me.
Are you going to go to NZ? From an Australian's perspective, I am inclined to think of NZ as a being a tad... quiet. But very good for scenery and extreme sports.
Is ortho a bit of a boys club where you are?
Perhaps if you decide on the GP option you can enjoy a nice lifestyle and lots of time off a year, during which you can write the next "House of God" or similar. Anyway, just wanted to say goodluck.
Yours,
The Nonplussed MedPup
Or do you think I should call myself idiOpathic?
